Principal’s Message
Hello Families of Cascadia Elementary School!
I'm so excited to start our first year together. This year we will continue using Parent Square to stay connected and I will send out monthly messages to keep you informed about what is happening at our great school. You will also get messages from your child's teacher and you can message them there too. Our partnership is important to your child's success. I believe families are our students first and most important teacher and when we work together your child benefits most. Thank you for sharing your children with us and I'm looking forward to getting to know you throughout the year.
This year we are focusing on belonging at Cascadia. We are committed to each and every student feeling a sense of belonging to take risks and grow as much as they can this year. The 2022-2023 school year is our second year with a new literacy curriculum that promotes strong reading skills, writing from research and ideas and fostering independence as learners. We're also starting i-Ready Math for the first year. Classroom teachers will continue teaching Second Step to support students' social skill development. Students will also learn science and social studies concepts. You can expect lots of learning this year!
We are excited to open our doors to more family events and volunteers. Our goal is to also make sure each of you feel a sense of belonging at Cascadia. We hope you will consider volunteering, joining the PTO and reaching out to us if you have any questions ideas. We are always better together and your voice matters.
As I begin my time as the principal of Cascadia I would love to hear your thoughts about what is great at Cascadia and what you'd like to see improve. Feel free to reach out to me via Parent Square and we can set up a time to sit down together.
Thank you for sharing your child with us and letting us partner with you!
Your principal,
Dawn Christiana
